When you think of “porcelain,” you may imagine delicate porcelain dishes. Dental porcelain, however, is anything but delicate. In fact, this material is extremely strong and durable, allowing porcelain crowns to last for many, many years.

Dr. Rawcliffe can fit you with a new porcelain crown over the course of two visits to our Round Rock, TX, office. During the first visit, the affected tooth will be prepared for the new crown. An impression will be made of the affected tooth, after which Dr. Rawcliffe will remove all existing decay and thoroughly clean the surface of the tooth. Before you leave the office, you’ll be fitted with a temporary crown that you’ll wear while the permanent crown is being created.

During the second trip to our office, Dr. Rawcliffe will remove the temporary crown and fit you with your new, permanent porcelain crown. He will check to make sure that the crown is comfortable and that your bite is normal. After Dr. Rawcliffe makes any necessary adjustments, the process is complete and you’ll be enjoying all the benefits of a porcelain crown that should last for many years.
